From The 48th Ward:
Thank you for reaching out to the 48th Ward office. We appreciate your concern regarding the recent tent that has appeared near your building. We understand the importance of maintaining this area as a safe and welcoming space for families, children, and elderly residents, and we are monitoring the situation closely.
We’ve notified the appropriate city departments about the location, and in the meantime, if you or your neighbors would like to report concerns or request wellness outreach for individuals experiencing homelessness, you can contact the Department of Family and Support Services (DFSS) directly at DFSS-Homeless@cityofchicago.org . They coordinate outreach and support services with trained partners who engage individuals compassionately and offer pathways to shelter and housing.
Additionally, if you notice safety concerns or need immediate park-related assistance, you may contact Chicago Park District Security at 312-747-2193, which oversees security in park and lakefront areas.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if we can assist further. Your feedback helps us respond promptly and effectively to maintain the safety and livability of our shared public spaces.
If you would like to reach out regarding this matter or other concerns, you can reach the 48th Ward Aldermanic Office at info@the48thward.org.
We encourage you to write if you have concerns. We know last year the encampments got out of control with fires and unsanitary conditions, and even campers trespassing, assaulting our staff and residents, damaging a wall and dumpster diving right behind Park Tower. When residents started contacting the Alderwoman in large numbers, we saw a response.
The more voices, the more likely someone is listening.
