Our friends with Signa System Company will be here to discuss the science and benefits of double pane window systems, as well as the alternative window film coverings. While not inexpensive improvements, both have qualities that can improve your comfort and living experience, while reducing your carbon footprint!
The “Signa System” itself is an insulating glass unit created out of existing single-glazed window by adding and sealing an additional layer of glass hermetically (air tight), using special, patented air spacers and corners. The spacers contain a moisture absorbing material to help keep moisture and condensation from entering between them. The dead air space between the two layers of glass act you warm in winter, and insulate from heat in the summer.
This reduces the need to run convector units saving both on the building’s energy use, and your ComEd bill!
Alternatively, window film coverings are highly effective as well and ideal for windows that face east, south or west. They help guard against intense sunlight, reflecting much of the solar energy away from your home. Most reliable film materials block over 99% of UV rays, which can protect furniture, flooring, artwork and more. Films help retain heat in winter as well, so all year round they can help reduce energy use.
Both alternatives help increase residents comfort while reducing reliance on the convector units, saving energy.
Stop by to meet the Signa team, learn more and see if this might be a solution for your home.
