The ‘America Recycles Presentation’ scheduled for November 15th at 7pm was cancelled. Unfortunately our team had to use space in the Party Room to stage and carry out some of the heating line repairs. We believed we might have been finished soon enough to carry on as scheduled with the meeting, however, at this point it is too close for comfort.
We spoke with our friends at Republic Services and were happy to reschedule for Tuesday November 29th at 7pm. Once we have a new date and time, we will of course post and distribute notice.
ALSO!!!
They will be giving away free shopping totes and water bottles made out of recycled materials, and other Republic Services swag. If Mayor Emmanuel has his way with the City Budget, reusable shopping bags will save you money with every visit to grocery and box stores!
All Owners and Resident welcomed and strongly encouraged to join us for an informative presentation about our recycling program.
Tuesday November 15th at 7pm in the Party Room
In honor of America Recycles Day, which is on Tuesday November 15th, our friends at Republic Services will be here to do an encore presentation, at 7pm in the 2nd Floor Party Room. As the folks who remove our waste and process our recyclables, they will be here to make another presentation – pretty much the same as the one from Green Week in April – about what they do with the materials that go in our recycle bins.
We also expect them to review what will be changing come January, with the new City of Chicago Recycling Ordinance, which requires more separation of materials. As we understand it, this will create a little more work for all of us, but is better for the recycling process in the long run.
For those residents and owners who were unable to make the presentation during Green Week last Spring, we had a TON of positive feedback. Everyone learned a lot about the recycling process from garbage can to conveyor belt, to reintegration of resources. They even brought some samples of products and materials made from recyclables. Included in the presentation itself is a review common myths and misconceptions geared to help consumers and residents understand the importance of recycling and what you can do to help the process.
In some cases, the smallest adjustment in day to day habits, can make a big difference in the process.

What exactly is America Recycles Day?
From www.Cute-Calendar.com:
America Recycles Day is observed on November 15, 2016. America Recycles Day (ARD) is the only nationally recognized day dedicated to encouraging Americans to recycle and buy recycled products. Thousands of events are held across the U.S. to raise awareness about the importance of recycling and to encourage Americans to sign personal pledges to recycle and buy products made from recycled materials.
Started by the recycling sector organization National Recycling Coalition in 1997, America Recycles Day has been a program of national nonprofit Keep America Beautiful since 2009. As the managing entity of America Recycles Day, Keep America Beautiful provides promotional and marketing support and resources to a network of local event organizers. It is sponsored by private and public entities and the EPA. This text has been taken from www.cute-calendar.com
