Fortunately no one was hurt and there was only minor property damage. That could have very easily NOT been the case. However, the Board did warn that any future incident may result in legal action, pressing measures with the local authorities, and multiple additional fines.
On the evening of Thursday July 8th, we received complaints from numerous Owners and resident enjoying the roof deck, of objects being tossed from a window on the 49th floor.
This included at least 8 full water bottles, toys, keys, boots, a remote control and a variety of other odds and ends. We are told one water bottle just missed someone’s head. From even just a floor or two up this could cause injury or worse. From the 49th floor, and this could be a much sadder message to our residents.
This is potentially deadly behavior. Anything falling from the building could damage property below, or worse, kill someone. This has happened elsewhere in the City and Nation. This is never acceptable anywhere, and we NEVER want to see the worst happen here at the Park Tower Community. It would be horrific and devastating.
The source unit was identified. A Notice of Violation has been issued, and the typical fine for such behavior is the MAXIMUM of what the Association’s governing documents allow. Also, the police were called and because of the nature of the situation we are told DCFS was contacted as well and they have already visited the building to speak to Management and have made their way to the unit in question. We are not at liberty to say more about that, except – WE WILL DO EVERYTHING IN OUR POWER to help avoid such danger here.
PLEASE – discuss this with your friends, family and neighbors and as a community let’s make a commitment to ensure this never ever happens here. EVER!
