Jacuzzi Jets’ Replacement Scheduled
August 15, 2025
UPDATED August 16th
The Pool Area Hot Tub Is Back Up And Running
It was on again/off again this week, when the tub was refilled. Unfortunately most of the new jets were leaking when the jacuzzi was filled. Our service provider found that several of the gaskets were bad and had to be replaced. That work has been completed; the tub has been refilled, the chemicals have been balanced and the tub is back in regular service.
At the most recent Board Meeting an Owner and member of the Health Club had a great question. They’ve noticed that the jacuzzi is emptied and refilled several times a week – why is that?
The quick answer is…well…with all due respect, it’s because people are gross!
Jacuzzis need to be emptied and refilled relatively often to help prevent the buildup of bacteria, harmful chemicals and other contaminants that can cause skin and respiratory illnesses. Especially tubs like ours that have many users. The high water temp lower water volumes can make it prone to rapid contamination.
Here’s some more detailed explanations as to why it is wise to regularly empty and refill a hot tub, which I was able to collect thanks to how helpful Google’s AI assistant is:
Bather Load:
Public jacuzzis with a higher number of users lead to an increased introduction of body oils, sweat, and other contaminants into the water. Total Dissolved Solids (TDS):
As the water is used, the concentration of TDS (minerals, chemicals, and other dissolved substances) increases. This can reduce the effectiveness of sanitizers like chlorine or bromine. Chemical Buildup:
Adding chemicals to maintain water quality can also contribute to TDS buildup. Over time, this can make it harder to balance the water and may lead to skin irritation. Bacterial Growth:
High TDS and inadequate sanitation can create an environment where bacteria, including harmful ones like Pseudomonas and Legionella, can thrive. Health Risks:
Contaminated water can cause skin and respiratory illnesses, such as folliculitis, swimmer’s ear, and even Legionnaires’ disease. Regulations:
Public health organizations, like the CDC, recommend frequent draining and refilling of public hot tubs to ensure better water quality.
- The CDC recommends a regular draining and refilling schedule for public hot tubs, depending on usage and observed water quality.
- Some facilities may choose to drain and refill more frequently to ensure optimal water quality and user safety.

The Parts are Finally in for this Work Approved by the Board after a Recommendation by our Maintenance Team
This replacement was planned as a part of the 2025/2026 budget, approved by the Board earlier this year. A contractor was hired and parts were ordered in the spring – we’ve been awaiting their arrival. Now that they’re in, they’ve scheduled the installation of the new Jacuzzi jets for Tuesday, August 12th, from 9AM to 5PM.
In order to accommodate this work, the Jacuzzi will be closed and unavailable to use during for the day.
We apologize to our members for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding while this important cleaning is done.
