This is not an evil digital plot to invade the building with web friendly decor.
These are location tags for our Security Team. As a part of their routine efforts, they “tour” the building and visit these tagged locations, sometimes multiple times per shift. As they are walking around, they use a phone provided by our vendor, Harvard Protection, which logs their visit. They use the phone to scan the QR code and it reports back the locations, dates and times of the guards’ visits.
They also use the phone to take pictures that may be necessary when reporting problems or suspected issues, or to include with incident reports.
This is part of a program our team worked out with Harvard Protection, to make sure the guards are proactively visiting key locations – not just to scan QR Codes – but to be up out of the security office, visible, and getting a set of eyes on these locations. The management office gets reports daily from each guard, and it includes a “Tour Report” for each time they make rounds and visit these locations.
So, if you are out and about and see a small square sticker with a QR Code, such as the ones depicted in these pictures, DON’T PANIC! AND PLEASE DO NOT DISTURB, ALTER, OR REMOVE THEM! We need these to remain in place. They are there an important tool to support our efforts keeping the Park Tower community better protected.
