For everyone’s safety and convenience, and to help keep our maintenance team focused on priorities, please completely break down boxes – cardboard or otherwise.
In the example of the picture you see here, it can take in excess of an hour for an employee to completely breakdown these boxes for disposal. For pick up by the recycling truck, materials cannot be sticking out of the dumpsters lid. So, sometimes this requires them to go through the dumpsters too.
And, it’s just common sense that if boxes are broken down, more material will be able to fit in each dumpster. This is particularly important for recycling.
Failing to completely break down boxes, may result in labor charges being assessed to the Unit Owner’s account, consistent with current PTCA labor rates. Right now, that is a minimum charge of $60 for up to the first half hour of labor. So, one box…$60!!
