Preliminary Service Upgrades Beginning Monday May 19th

Several months ago the PT Board approved long awaited remodeling of the Service and Passenger Elevators

This has been in the planning phase for some time by the PTCA Home Improvement Commission, including the design and recommendations for material finishes. Proposals were approved in the fall of 2024 and materials have since been ordered. The work is being coordinated by OTIS Elevator and their sub-contractor Globe Architectural & Metal. There has been some hiccups with the materials, but we believe some time this summer, you can expect to see new walls, floors and ceilings being installed.

As a part of this process, some ancillary improvements were approved, including code improvements to the door operators and the installation of ADA compliant speakers. OTIS Elevator has indicated they are ready to get these improvements installed.

WORK IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN MONDAY May 19th

They will be starting on Monday with Service Elevator 5, then continuing Tuesday with Service Elevator 6. Each will take about one day. (We asked they start with these elevators because to get those done before the ’01 High Zone Riser Project scheduled to begin the following week, after Memorial Day, Tuesday May 27th.)

After the Service Elevators they will proceed in number order, beginning with Passenger Elevators 1, 2, 3 and 4. Each of those will take about 1 and 1/2 days each, Wednesday May 21st through Thursday May 29th. They will finish up with Mall Elevators 7 and 8 on Friday May 30th. Each of those cabs will take about 1/2 day.

Work is expected to take place between 6am and 2pm each day, with the elevator they are working on being put back in service at the end of each day. Please plan for delays during that time.
