URGENT – Recent Events At Neighboring Buildings Underscore The Need to Be Prepared And Aware Of Your Surroundings And Stay Vigilant At All Times
We have been advised of recent attempted trespassing at 3 other high rise buildings along North Sheridan, and one successful attempt at bike theft from another. All within the last week.
Internally we have alerted our staff and advised them to remember the steps and procedures they need to follow as individuals are attempting to enter the tower.
We ask that everyone remain vigilant:
FOLLOW ALL ENTRY PROCEDURES AND PLEASE BE UNDERSTANDING AND RESPECTFUL IF A STAFF MEMBER ASKS YOU TO IDENTIFY YOURSELF
This includes making sure you have your fob and ID at all times when you are coming and going. The staff reports that many residents out and about (especially late at night), are not carrying their fobs and are expecting to be let in. Some residents have even become aggressive about this. It has been about a year since our procedures were updated and new hardware was installed to improve and better secure the PT community. Part of the process is residents being prepared and doing their part.

DON’T LET ANYONE IN THAT YOU DO NOT KNOW, EITHER THROUGH PUBLIC DOORS OR YOUR OWN
And please don’t be offended if someone does not leave a door open for you. As you are coming up any entrances, have your fob ready and do not assume anyone INCLUDING THE STAFF will let you in. We realize this can be inconvenient, but staying secure is more important than convenience. With approximately 1500 residents and guests coming and going, not everyone can be expected to know everyone.
KEEP YOUR DOORS LOCKED AND BOLTED AT ALL TIMES
Particularly considering a trespasser at a nearby building found their way into a secure area and stole a bike. Individuals intent on such wrong-doing can be clever and creative. Keep your home as secure as possible.
BE AWARE AND VIGILANT
Report any suspicious activity or persons you may witness. You can never be too safe. Please call 911 and then contact the staff if you learn of or suspect any attempted break-ins. During business hours you can reach the office at 773-769-3250, and after hours the front desk at 773-769-3083. Follow up with an e-mail if possible, at parktowercondo-mgmt@habitat.com.
Alerts have gone to all our staff and security personnel as well. Our team will keep our eyes and ears open as we always do.
We appreciate everyone’s attention and serious consideration of this very important matter.
